Launching the Refactory Uganda
The Honorable Minister of ICT and National Guidance; Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, The Representative of the Norwegian and Dutch Embassy The University Council Members Members of CIU Management, invited guest,s ladies, and gentlemen.
It gives me the greatest pleasure to host you on behalf of the partners of this revolutionary program.
I am extremely thrilled about this milestone!! It has been a journey getting to this launch, but most importantly, witnessing the first cohort complete their training is a testimony that we are doing something right.
At Clarke International University we are determined to reimagine education with the sole intention of making it fit for purpose. Our recent tracer studies indicate that more than 90% of graduates find employment within the first year after graduation. This reflects CIU’s legacy of excellence and spurs us on to explore the innovative possibilities of cultivating graduates who are industry-ready.
The Refactory Program is one other avenue that demonstrates the possibilities of how this re-imagination and transformation in training can be successfully achieved. This program has salient features that are not on any other training program that I know of. It is a program for the industry by the industry.
This is only possible because of the strong partnership with our industry partners Laboremus Uganda and Fontes Foundation. These two bring a new and critical dimension, challenge and innovative practices to the process of educating the next generation of technology leaders. Uganda has untapped talent. We are thrilled to be in a position to provide the tools for skilling and to increase the number of competent technology experts in the country.
Allow me to conclude by recognizing the incredible support that was invested by our other partners YWAM (Youth with A Mission) from the UK and CM 2000. The initial investment by this incredible team of gentlemen is what we celebrate today. Thank you Michael Green, Karl Pritchard, John Mansour, and Pete Sampey. And Thank you to Michael Niyitegeka and his Team. They nurture this vision and make it possible.
And deepest gratitude to NORAD and the Norwegian Government: thank you for entrusting your taxpayer’s money with this partnership. You will not be disappointed.
To our guests this evening, we invite you to join us and be part of our story. We are open to more partnerships and funding. This is just the beginning.
Thank you Hon Minister, the representative of the Norwegian and Dutch Embassy for gracing this occasion. We look forward to a great future as we catalyze the next generation of technology leaders. I thank you!
